Marimba d'amore by Keiko Abe is a challenging, impressive marimba solo. This piece has many dense and musically lyrical lines.
This marimba solo contains many musical ideas typical of Keiko's writing style: ostinatos of different lengths in each hand, a mixture of Western and Japanese harmonies, and drastic mood changes. Some familiar melodies crop up 2/3rds of the way through.
Only marimbists with full technical control should work up Marimba d'amore.
