Meinl calls this instrument the 21" Byzance Transition Ride Cymbal because it easily goes back and forth from clear, dry ride patterns to loud crashes without ever losing stick definition, and it does it so smoothly you might not believe it.
The unique look of this cymbal comes from 'half-polishing' it - that's why it looks kinda raw, but kinda not. It's been significantly hammered, which keeps the dryness high while adding to the visual effect. The bell is loud and tasty, but never overpowering and not severely bright.
Built with the help of Mike Johnson - of Mike's Lessons fame - this cymbal would work well in any setting that doesn't get brazenly loud or aggressively bright. Use it in Jazz, Funk, RnB, or in the studio.
