Taking advantage of a steel shell's inherent brightness, the Pearl 14" x 3.5" Task-Specific Free Floating Stainless Steel Piccolo Snare Drum is ringy (thanks to the thin 1mm shell), crisp, and high-pitched - pretty much every reason you would want a piccolo snare.
Free Floating lugs do not touch the shell at all, letting it ring as much as it possibly can. With a steel shell, that means the shell's tone is going to carry for days. Die-cast hoops keep your tuning true even after thousands of rimshots, and you can crank the drum sky high.
Pearl has included the SR-160F Click-Lock Snare Strainer, which locks the lever and tension adjuster wherever you want it. The drum also comes fitted with a Remo Coated Ambassador batter head.
