The Meinl Ibo drums are a modern twist on the traditional Udu clay drums invented by the Igbo tribe of Nigeria. These drums create a variety of exotic earthy tones by being struck on the surface, the hole on top of the neck, or by quickly sealing and unsealing the large hole on the body of the drum with your hand. All Ibo drums include a small port for a microphone (these instruments are rather quiet) and a round pad so you can set it on the ground safely.
The Fiberglass Liquid Ibo Drum features a twist: a sealed metal chamber containing water is permanently bonded to the bottom of the nearly unbreakable fiberglass body. This liquid chamber adds fluctuating overtones to the drum's fundamental tones when sloshed around, giving an otherworldly sound to this already exotic instrument. This drum also has a hip black-to-white faded finish.
