Ludwig Ultimate Marching Tenors are designed for modern marching groups, featuring 6-ply North American Maple shells with deep profiles and angle cuts to get their mid-range sound through the battery and up to the box.
Maple brings high sensitivity, a wide tuning range, and a biting attack to your tenor line. Each drum is constructed with 45-degree bearing edges with a 1/8" radius round over, finally hand-sanded to assure a completely flat surface to seat the head correctly.
A bladder mold and a special adhesive lets the shells cure evenly across the entire surface. This unique method, as well as a 5-ply 1.5" maple reinforcement rings, make the shells incredibly strong to hold up under immense tuning pressure.
Instead of a heavy metal brace, Ludwig has collaborated with Randall May to create Free-Floating Lug Bridges. By connecting the drums to each other with high-strength polymer brackets on the lug casings, they've reduced a significant amount of weight.
Redesigned aluminum lug casings are also 60% lighter than before, making these tenors among the lightest available. 2.3mm steel hoops and 6mm tension rods provide strength enough to tolerate extremely high tuning.
The 6-6-10-12-13-14" sextet configuration combines full-sized larger toms with two spock drums for even more complicated books.
