The Meinl Make Your Own Cajon Kit is an extremely affordable alternative to buying a pre-made cajon, and it's also one of the best presents for a child that we can think of - it gets them working with their hands, actually building a musical instrument that they can play once they're done!
This kit includes all the parts of the cajon, and with a few basic tools you can have a cajon ready to go in just a day or two. The resonating body is made of birch, a very popular drum-making wood, to give it a professional-level sound with high slaps and a low bassy boom.
At the end of the project, you can feel free to customize your new instrument with any oils, varnishes, waxes, paints, or anything else to make it truly unique.
