Dark Sky by Dustin Schulze is a foreboding journey for two marimbists, split into three connected sections. A chant is created in the low ranges of the instruments, joined with a lyrical right hand. This duet is both intense and dreamlike.
Both players will be asked to play highly repetitive chunks of music which can be challenging from a purely endurance perspective. Lateral stroke strength and polyrhythm execution are very important skills for this piece.
