Originally written for the 1989 Santa Clara Vanguard Front Ensemble, this arrangement by percussion legend Ralph Hardimon gives new life to Ravel's Prelude from Le Tombeau de Couperin.
This composition is arranged straight from the orchestral score and demands a high level of technical stamina and virtuosity from each performer. There are very fast passages played at low dynamics and sensitive phrasing that do a great job at reflecting the clever quality of Ravel's original composition.
This piece will showcase your ensembles ability to work as a cohesive unit, with complex weaving of sounds and lines that are handed off between players and sides of the ensemble.
