Clockwork by Stuart P. O'Neil features a solo flute with percussion ensemble, and is a great little piece that can introduce some very contemporary compositional methods to your beginning-to-intermediate students!
Held together by the tick-tock of the temple blocks, this piece uses lots of percussion instruments to create familiar clock sounds, including Big Ben's Westminster Chimes. At the very end, the piece turns into a clock shop at the top of the hour, with nearly everybody playing their own tune at their own tempo!
