Glacier by Benjamin Finley is the story of the life of a glacier, told through a thickly orchestrated percussion ensemble filled with icy metallic sounds and mellow keyboards. Balancing the ensemble can be a little challenging, but the result is a nice programmatic addition to a percussion ensemble concert.
Each player in this piece will need a strong sense of ensemble awareness, as they'll be playing rhythms and lines that are often just one part of a large mixture of sounds.
