Triptych Boom by Chad Floyd features a snare drum soloist, backed up by three multi-percussionists. The soloist plays the drum with sticks, brushes, bundles, and hands to create a wide assortment of timbral effects.
The percussion accompaniment is varied and interesting, with each player juggling multiple pitched and non-pitched instruments. If you're looking for a concert-style solo that's a little more interesting than most of the offerings out there, this is an excellent choice.
This piece can also be performed without the help of three friends; this piece includes a version for solo and digital audio accompaniment. This version is slightly longer, and the accompaniment is timbrally much more 'electronic' in sound, full of raw square and sine waves.
