Third Rail by John Ling cleverly mixes rudimental snare drum with a sequenced piano accompaniment, inspired by a train system. It's broken into four short, distinct parts: Voltage, Traction, Crossroads, and Third Rail.
Some alternate techniques like sliding buzz strokes, but the performer will mostly need good command of their rudiments. Most of the licks are diddle-based, with some hybrids like egg beaters thrown into the mix occasionally. This solo is an entertaining option for any rudimental drummer looking to play a solo.
The sequenced accompaniment is included in digital audio format on a CD.
