... like a burden too heavy by Brian Blume is a bittersweet marimba solos that constantly moves forward through rising arpeggios and yet is slightly haunting due to heavy usage of minor keys and diminished chords - all meant to convey the trials and tribulations that come with simply being human.
This piece would be a very effective solo for any intermediate percussionist looking to develop their 4-mallet technique, and is more musically thoughtful than many solos of the same difficulty level. It's written for a 4.3-octave marimba, but additions and alterations are included in case the student has access to a 4.6-octave instrument (low E).
