Lake Bonneville was a vast inland sea that slowly evaporated over 14,000 years ago, leaving behind a giant basin and a puddle today known as the Great Salt Lake. The marimba solo The Ghosts of Bonneville by Benjamin Finley depicts the life that once lived in this massive body of water.
Players will need strong command over their octaves, as well as the ability to create lateral flurries of notes across the instrument. Add this to your recital rep if you want a marimba solo that's both challenging and approachable.
