Tapspace My Beautiful Chaos (Solo Version) by Thomas R. Marceau

My Beautiful Chaos by Thomas R. Marceau is a heavily motivic work for solo marimba. This paradoxical theme is meant to reflect how Marceau and his wife often refer to their two oldest boys.

This loving but contrasting theme is embodied by fast, sporadic groupings of rhythms that create a coherent harmony that is gently juxtaposed with a chromatic, more dissonant melodic context.

There is plenty of a challenge here for any player, and this piece would fit well at competition or on a recital. The faster technical passages are equal in demand to the musical maturity that is necessary to really sell a performance of Marceau's work.
